The Power of Resistance

Hi, Beautiful!

Have you ever sat and reflected on what you are currently facing?  Have you heard the whisper from God about your assignment and felt like He can’t possibly be calling you to that?  Have you ever felt that you can’t possibly bear this too?

When there is an assignment on our lives, God will use the trials to direct us to our calling and purpose.  The pain that we experience is used to help someone who will cross our paths in the future.  But, it’s when we try to run from that calling that our fear tells us that we can’t possibly do it.  But Beautiful, when there is an assignment, nothing else will work until we are walking in that calling.  That’s the power of resistance!

The power of resistance comes to show us that total surrender is required.  And no I’m not talking about surrendering in that we continue to allow others to hurt us but surrendering to God and the reason why we were created.  You can’t try and control the situation as nothing but total reliance on Him is required.  I know it doesn’t feel good when we are going through but it’s His plan.  It’s His power within us that supersedes all the pain and hurt that we experience.  It’s His plan that will keep us from running!  It’s His plan that will show us when WE need to change.

Perhaps, our character is off!  Perhaps, we have fear!  Perhaps, we aren’t walking in love!  Whatever it is, God will show us as we can’t run from our purpose.  We can’t fight the resistance that the calling has on our lives.

So Beautiful, stop fighting the voices that say you are not enough or will never measure up!  Stop fighting that gut instinct you have and accept that you are called for a greater purpose!  Stop fighting the resistance and accept that you have the strength to keep moving!  You were not designed to give up!

The patience to wait

Hi, Beautiful!

Do you have the patience to wait?

Too many times, we are often faced with the desire to control and figure out the situation ourselves rather than letting go and letting God handle it.  Trust me, I totally know how hard it is to let go.  I know that our lack of patience and maybe despair keep us from totally trusting because we want the answer / solution right here and right now.  However, God doesn’t work like that! He works in His perfect timing.  So, how do we find the patience to wait?

We find the patience to wait by:

  • Surrendering the need to control by focusing on God and His love for us.
  • Understanding that we are going to go through trials and obstacles in order to grow our character.
  • Praying for direction and the actions to move.
  • Being intentional in our lives by believing.
  • Starting to live with every step that we take.
  • Understanding that the trial is how we learn who we are.
  • Most importantly, understanding that the trial is how we learn who God is.

Sometimes, we can’t help but feel discouraged when we are facing a trial.  And I’m learning that discouragement is there to just show me that I’m on the right track. When the obstacles get in the way, that means we are doing something right.  Therefore, when those moments of discouragement come, pray and ask God for the strength to keep on wait and stand.  Ask him for the strength to wait until he says move.

So, what’s your plan?  When is the last time that you consulted God for THE plan?  When is the last time that you stopped trying to figure it out on your own and asked God to order your steps?  Don’t forget that he is the creator and has laid out the steps for you.  It’s just a matter of us letting go of the need to control and being still to listen for the directions.  So beautiful butterfly, how will you create the patience to wait?

In the Storm

Everyone goes through trials and challenges.  Everyone feels sadness and pain.  Everyone often questions the reasons behind everything that we experience. Unfortunately, it’s a part of life that we have to go through in order to experience something greater.

Over the last couple of weeks, I have been experiencing a sense of sadness and I couldn’t figure out why.  I tried to shift my mindset to reflect on how God has been and is still with me but I still couldn’t shake this feeling.  It was just a feeling that I couldn’t explain or understand for that matter.

If you know me, you know that I love clouds so imagine every time that I stepped out and looked up, I see clouds that look like a storm.  And what do I hear – a storm is coming!  Each and every time, I saw and heard this.  So, here I am feeling this sense of sadness and keep hearing the storm is coming and I have no idea what to do except lean in and trust God.  I couldn’t talk to anyone about it because every time I tried, I couldn’t find the words to explain it.  Every time I tried to write, I couldn’t find the words to write.  I just had to pray and wait. Wait for his explanation of what I was experiencing!

stormIn the midst of me waiting, I realized that God was speaking to me all along.  I was just so focused on my feelings that I couldn’t hear what he was telling me.  My storm was my God’s way of telling me to prepare but prepare for what……

Prepare to:

  • Understand that there is purpose to my broken pieces.  My broken pieces have been created into something strong, beautiful and purposeful.
  • Understand that I will face giants but those giants of fear, doubt and procrastination will not stop me
  • Understand that God carries me during my dark moments.  As such, I have to learn to give myself grace by remembering all the ways that God has come through.
  • Be grateful at all times
  • Understand that my failures lead to my growth and my opportunity to trust God

So in the midst of MY storm, I realized that I have to:

  • Find peace – John 14:27, Psalm 16:11, John 16:13, 1 Col 3:15
  • Get quiet and be still by taking the time to reflect and just be in the moment – Isaiah 30:15
  • Trust Him no matter what – Psalm 33:4
  • Pray at all times and give thanks – 1 Thes 5:16-18
  • Let go of trying to control and just be – Rom 11:36, Isaiah 30:15
  • Stop listening to the negative talk and transform my thoughts – 2 Cor 10:4-5, Col 3:2

In the midst of my storm, God blessed me with my rainbow!  My lesson in the storm was to never lose sight of Him and continue to trust in Him.  So you see, no storm will ever break you.  They just teach you where your reliance of strength needs to come from.

Trust God??? What does that really look like?

You hear it all the time – trust God!  But, have you really evaluated what that means for you? What does it look like for you to say I trust God? After reading a devotional and journaling, I thought about that question and here is what God spoke to me about what it means to trust:

  1. Trusting God means having peace no matter what – It feels like hell is breaking out around you and you have no idea on whether you are coming or going.  When you trust God, you believe that he has already worked it out so you have peace.  You must have the peace and comfort in knowing that His will is already done.   So take a deep breath, release and feel the peace!  It will be ok.  Trust God no matter what!
  2. Trusting God means relying on Him to work it out rather than you trying to control the situation – Most times we want it to go a certain way and so we try to control the situation but in doing so we may not be fully prepared for it. Therefore, we need instruction from God on how to move forward.  Waiting for further instruction is trusting God!
  3. Trusting God means speaking up when needed – What happens when you see a situation that is wrong?  Do you sit back and say I don’t want to get involved but knowing the inside of you is saying speak up? Well that feeling that you have is God saying speak up and say something against the wrong!
  4. Trusting God means closing your mouth when needed – We are so quick to say something to someone out of hurt that we don’t think before we speak. Someone may be speaking truth to you but because you are so focused on the pain of their words (because who likes to hear when we are wrong or need to make some improvements), we may not be open to receiving the truth.  Therefore, sometimes we just have to be quiet, listen and then pray to God for guidance on how to receive what they spoke.  Stop focusing on getting your point when you should be pursuing peace!
  5. Trusting God means loving despite the pain you feel – When we are hurt, we think that they don’t love you or you are not worthy.  But, they just don’t know how to love you.  They don’t know how to love you the way that God intended for you to be loved.  Just continue trusting that God will bring the love that you need because He is love and He created love.
  6. Trusting God means forgiving when they hurt you – No one ones to be hurt but it happens with life.  It’s how we handle that hurt that’s important.  We can choose to either let it distract us or we can use it to push us into purpose.  Trusting God means that you will find forgiveness for those that hurt us because God gives us all the comfort and peace that we need.
  7. Trusting God means believing when the resources lack – We all have goals but sometimes we lack the resources to accomplish those goals and so we get discouraged. However, if God has given you the purpose, He will provide the resources. We just have to trust Him and wait for him to bring it together.  We are his daughters and kings so we have access to the kingdom through our faith.  We just have to trust Him to make it happen.
  8. Trusting God means loving yourself no matter who is there to love you back – At times, our journey to purpose can be lonely.  We think we have all the support but then we realize that there is really no one there with us.  It’s just us and God.  Well, it’s during these moments when we have to trust God and toot our own horns and cheer ourselves to the finish line.  God is never far from us so we have to trust that He is all the support we need.  Be our biggest cheerleader!
  9. Trusting God means believing you are worth it – Society has set so high of an expectation for beauty that we often find ourselves trying to become someone we are not. We think we have to be a certain size or shape in order to feel accepted or worthy.  However, the expectation that Society set is based on an outward appearance that it never looks at the love within us.  God created us to be love, walk in love and give love and the moment that we stop focusing on the outward and hold onto the inward then we begin to realize the powerful worthy woman that we are.  Trusting God is accepting that you are worthy because of God’s love within you!
  10. Trusting God means walking in the beauty of who God created you to be – We all know life happens and things are never what we expect them to be.  However, it’s all apart of our journey and who makes us up.   The trials and circumstances are just things that come in order to distract you but they do not define you. They do not say you are anything other than beautiful.  So remember, you are beautiful despite your circumstance!

No matter the situation, we have plenty of moments to trust God.  What does trusting God look like for you?
